‘Are You Tougher?’ premieres tonight

The premiere of Are You Tougher Than a Boy Scout? is close enough we can taste it.

In fact, it’s close enough that we can now set our DVRs to record the six-episode series, which debuts at 8 p.m./7 p.m. Central tonight (Monday, March 4)!

Here’s what you need to know:

“Are You tougher than a boy Scout?”

  • Tune-in details: The show airs at 8 p.m. (7 p.m. Central) every Monday night, beginning March 4. It’s on the National Geographic Channel, available in 83 million U.S. homes. Find the channel number in your program guide.
  • Behind the scenes: Scouting magazine sent a writer to check out filming last summer in California. Get the inside scoop in our January-February cover story.
  • Websites: Keeping track of the show is easy. Bookmark toughscout.com for the BSA perspective on the show, and check out NatGeo’s official show site for videos, episode guides, and more.
  • Bryan on Scouting recaps: I’ll post recaps of the show every Tuesday to open a discussion about the previous night’s episode. Go here for those recaps.
  • Official trailers: We’ve seen two so far, each with its own feel. They’re embedded below.

  1. Its just a shame that they decided to air the show when all of us scouts and scout leaders are in our scout meetings- Vertually every troop in our district meets on Monday nights…..thankfully we have DVR……..

  2. As an Eagle Scout I think this show is a joke. It’s worse than watching Survivor when it’s nobody’s against Navy Seals. A real show should showcase scouts by teaming a has been with a Scout to teach them and showcase what scouting really is. Not this bull crap show.

  3. Enjoyed the first episode. It would be nice if Nat Geo would focus a bit on the actual requirements to be an Eagle. The Eagles DID mention leadership, but it wasn’t in context.

it was nice to see MOST of the Guide to Safe Scouting being followed. Not sure I’d like to see the survival knives they had for the Wildreness Survival challenge on on of my troop campsites.

  4. The show was entertaining, but I did take exception to some of the winner’s comments. Upon winning the last challenge, he made the comment that he knew he had what it takes to be an Eagle. Ok, he won the physical challenges, but we all know that earning Eagle is more than the badges. It takes leadership, and service to others. Just my $.02 worth.
