The BSA employs “The Matrix” effect in its slick new video promos

So, what exactly do Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venturers do?

The next time you get that question from an interested Scout or parent, just send them a link to the videos seen here.

It’s a promo for, an easy way for non-Scouts to learn about the program. And it’s like nothing you’ve seen before.

Sure, the video’s message is on point with the ideals and mission of the Boy Scouts of America.

But the special effects add an extra dose of something, well, special.

If you’ve seen the action movie “The Matrix” (which isn’t appropriate for children under 17), you’ve seen bullet time. That’s where time appears to slow down while the camera stays at normal speed.

Watch for that cool effect in the videos below, which spotlight all three BSA programs.

And if you have thoughts on these videos, be sure to leave a comment!

  1. Nice videos…but I can’t believe that in the Boy Scout video the narrator says, “…were Eagle Scouts!” He meant “ARE Eagle Scouts!”

    • “Were” is correct if the person is deceased… but if they’re alive, it should be “are”… not sure how one would say that in this type of presentation, but the “were Eagle Scouts” phrase made me wince as well.

  2. BSA should make all videos like this available in one place for download by all adult Scouters to help in recruiting. Good stuff. Communicate these to the right people!!!!!
